The manager of a wax museum is showing round a group of visitors, and points out a group of statues, who were famous in their day due to a scandal. After they have gone, the wax figures come to life and we re-live the events that led to them being immortalised in wax. Not only a satire on conceited, haughty and hypocritical European aristocrats of its period, this play is also a parody on those old-fashioned elegant drawing-room plays.
