When the play opens, a young lawyer, ‘C’, is visiting her 92-year old client, ‘A’, to sort out her financial affairs. Along with the old woman’s matronly companion ‘B’, the lawyer tries to convince ‘A’ of the need to put her affairs in order, but ‘A’ begins a magnificent journey through her life, marriage and family. Finally, when recounting her most painful memory, ‘A’ suffers a stroke. In the second half of the play, ‘A’s comatose body lies in bed as ‘B’ and ‘C’ watch over her for signs of improvement. Suddenly, ‘A’ enters, very much alive and lucid.
