GINGHAM DOG, THE

A powerful, eloquent and relentlessly honest study of a disintegrating inter-racial marriage, focusing on a black wife and white husband on the day of their separation. The husband is moving out of the flat and there are the usual recriminations which serve on such occasions to mask the pain behind the resolve to go and let go. The couple run through their differences again but this time with their defences lowered and we glimpse the young, innocent and open, honest couple they had been during the first year of their marriage. It seems possible that they might reach across the separation and come together once more. The play develops to a moving climax.
