Das Modell (The Model) was Franz von Suppé’s final work, which he was still writing at the time of his death in 1895. The operetta was completed, and staged six months later at the Carltheater in Vienna. Das Modell tells of the quarrels of a laundress and her lover – a newspaper vendor – caused by their mutual jealousies.
