Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen (Songs of a Wayfarer)

Although there is quite a lot of choral writing by Mahler in his symphonies, there is nothing that is a stand-alone work for choir! Thomas Hanelt, the German composer/conductor saw this gap in the market and using the original high voice version of the song cycle, created an effective version of these glorious songs for mixed voice choir and piano. This arrangement was premiered in Frankfurt am Main on 27th April 2013, followed by further performances in Bad Homburg (28th April) and at the German Choral Festival in Zwickau on the 12th May.
